In "Atomize," Melomania from Hull, the sonic alchemists, peel back the layers of contemporary existence. Their vibrant post-grunge melodies wield guitars like searing lightning bolts, painting a canvas of the human condition.
The song unfurls with a playful overture, a whimsical voiceover skit. Here, Zak morphs into David Attenborough, Liam assumes the role of a sitcom protagonist, and Harry becomes a scientist probing the secrets of atoms. It's a lighthearted prelude to the tempestuous soundstorm that ensues.
"Atomize," nurtured under Hull's Warren Records, guided by the skilled hands of local indie producer Adam Pattrick, embodies Melomania's contemplation of modern society. It reflects how people sometimes hide their intelligence to conform to societal norms, to fit in with the crowd.
Yet, the song's core message is a clarion call not to disintegrate into conformity. Instead, it urges embracing individual talents and seizing life's opportunities, irrespective of external judgments. With a backdrop of electrifying alt-rock, Melomania compels us to rise above the mundane and celebrate our authentic selves, standing as beacons of our unique potential in a world that often prefers uniformity.
Vocalist Harry says of the release “When you write a song from scratch you have no idea what it is going to sound like. But when then band all learnt it and we began to perform it, it was absolutely insane. Right from the start we knew this was a great song. The buzz just from thinking about it sends shivers and goosebumps round my body with pride and excitement. Music is a magical experience and to be able to make it and distribute it is such a privilege and achievement. This release to me is a massive dream come true.”
