Alex Hellcat - Loyal Companion

A rather splendid ska lament about a deceased pet is not something I review everyday, but Loyal Companion by Alex Hellcat is what I present to you today. As a cat lover, the feeling behind the lyrics along with a slow steady ska beat and the slightly Joe Strummer style vocals makes it a moving and affirming listen.

Alex Hellcat is a multi talented musician from Germany who is a one-man powerhouse, single-handedly handling every aspect of his music production from writing to recording and performing. His musical style is diverse and far-reaching, resembling a spiderweb that spans in all directions, incorporating elements from various genres such as punk, ska, reggae, and rap.

Alex's songs explore a wide range of topics, including freedom, old horror flicks, and the things that keep him up at night. He uses his music as a platform to express his thoughts and emotions, creating lyrical landscapes that paint vivid pictures of his inner world.

“This song is special cause it's about my cat "Miki". I lost him on january 13, 2022 and as you may know it's fucking hard when someone you love is dying. Especially when you're so close to someone. Now on april 27th it would be Miki's birthday and that's why I release this song today. If you listen closely you can hear that I included soundbits of his voice in this track. Rest easy, my loyal companion! It's never gonna be the same without you. You will always be missed!”
