I was an early up-taker of Richard D. James (aka Aphex Twin), ages before anyone put him on a front cover or asked him to remix their popular hit, to make it edgy; so it was fun to hear Spooky by Messica Arson. There's that same feeling of relentless enthusiasm for exploring the sounds at the fringes of human capacity, sonic electronics which remain fairly linear but also challenge the listener. Murky but crisp, intense but pacifying. Watch out for the part which sounds like a dentist's drill, that will have you clenching your buttocks.
Who is Messica Arson? She is a Brooklyn-based artist who creates unique and electrifying computational noise music using live coding and live sampling. Spooky is taken from the album Corners of Disorder, which is available as a download and a Limited Edition cassette.
