999 is the debut single from Bournemouth, UK based Canine. If this is how they start, it will be well worth keeping an eye on them. 999 is an intriguing mix of influences of hardcore, post hardcore, hip hop and electroniccore. Sounds a lot to put in there but Canine do it splendidly. The hip hop aspect is not of the awful misogynistic, faux hard man variety currently popular across the pond, but of the ilk the genre originally was intended for. Social comment and championing the disenfranchised. The song has a reference to a Gil Scott Heron song which underlines the point. I’m sure there will be even greater things to come from Canine.
