MUSIC RECOMMENDATION: Rodney Cromwell - Cold Christmas

A few years ago I wrote the words to an incredibly joyless festive song (listen here if you're interested). It remains a favourite achievement in my overblown music career and even managed to make my Xmas-hating, goth bandmate feel utterly miserable. Ho Ho Ho! yes, I tend to gravitate towards gristly festive tracks delivered dripping with the rancid aftertaste of turkey fat. As such, step into a Cold Christmas with Rodney Cromwell, a synth-soaked, political party-pooper, topped with a massive dollop of dead-pan social dissatisfaction. A cracker of a track - but without the silly hat, novelty gift or fun snap, just the thought-provoking punchline regarding the unfunny joke that is austerity.

Cold Christmas appears on the CD-only compilation A Very Cherry Christmas - Volume 16 and is also available as a digital single via Happy Robots.
