MUSIC RECOMMENDATION: Piss For Pumpkin - Death Came Early This Year

All the way from Canada, this is the delightfully named Piss For Pumpkin with Death Came Early This Year. The track is based around a "manic poem about solitude and the unforgiving Montreal winter", both of which seem to send the band into an utter frenzy. The vocals become quite extraordinary in their intensive build-up to the climax, always closely matched by the instrumentation. I have experienced the freeze-your-eyeballs cold, cold in Canada, so I understand how they feel. I suppose you can either respond in this hysterical way or do what I did, slip into a cafe for a hot chocolate.

Who are Piss For Pumpkin? They are a Montreal-based post-punk band, consisting of Annie MacLeod (vocals, guitar), Matt Sagar (drums), and Isaac Seglins (bass). The trio create songs that "explore the anxieties of contemporary city life from the perspective of young adults, inviting their peers to take comfort in communal fear."

Piss For Pumpkin's debut album 'Scared To Die' was released on November 30th, 2022. I suggest you skip that hot chocolate and go buy it instead.
