I don't mind American punk, but so much of it sounds like Blink-182-esque pop-punk that it could all be shoved in the same bottle and labelled 'fizzy pop punk'. As we all know, too much of that processed stuff can make you feel a bit queasy. Thankfully, New York City, 5-piece, rock 'n' rollers, Takeover, have smashed the bottle to provide Plastic 40s something a bit more like European punk. Clattering drums, snarling vocals, raucous guitar - it is much better than most punk submissions we get from across the pond.
