Quite often I see material listed as "shoegaze" and then, when you listen, you find that it is just a fairly bog-standard indie track with fuzzy artwork. A massive let-down, like being promised a taste of paradise and being given an empty Bounty wrapper.
Happily, I can report that T. G. Shand's WAWO isn't running that particular flag of convenience, it is a proper shoegaze tune, not only that, it happens to be a mighty good one. The recording really hits the sweet spot at around the 1min 37secs mark, at least wait until then, you'll not be disappointed.
T. G. Shand is a project by Annemarie Duff from Christchurch (New Zealand) and the good news is that you can expect to hear a lot more from her in the near future, with a full album on the horizon.
Until that comes along, simply bask in WAWO.
