MUSIC RECOMMENDATION: SUEP - In Good Health (Video)

I like bonkers videos and London indie supergroup SUEP have an entertainingly surreal one for their latest drop In Good Health. Musically, it is reasonably reserved, all cheeky keyboards, tap-tap percussion, bobbing bass and side fx. It feels rather like staggering, in a dreamlike state, through an abandoned theme park. The vocals are so full of character, that the instrumentation doesn't need to compete. There's a perfectly healthy balance.

Who are SUEP? They are a band of renegade music-makers from bands such as Porridge Radio, Garden Centre, The GN Band, The Tubs and PC World. As a collective they create "oddball car-boot-sale pop songs with a sprinkling of theatrical storytelling".

Georgie Stott gives this insight about the track “I wanted to write a song that encapsulated how important my relationships with my friends and boyfriend were at that time…and one that also felt dark like I did at the time. I couldn’t go outside due to anxiety surrounding my health, so I stayed inside for weeks. People would visit and watch films with me or let me tattoo them or make music with me. My community helped me recover.”

In Good Health is taken from their forthcoming debut album Shop.
